East Kilbride is home to Scotland's largest shopping centre, boasting over 250 shops and eateries and covering over 1 million square feet. A £400 million pound redevelopment of the town centre has been given the go ahead by South Lanarkshire Council and will see the creation of a new Civic Centre, state of the art health centre and a "landmark" arts and culture complex with a 1000 seat theatre, 5000 seat conference centre, museum and a new town square. Leisure too is right on your doorstep - the Ice Rink, Cinema Multiplex, Library, while the Dollan Baths leisure complex with its Olympic sized swimming pool, the John Wright Sports Centre and Calderglen Country Park are all within easy walking distance. The village with its historic buildings and cobbled streets is an ideal place for a quiet meal or weekend drink. The Village is also home to the Village Theatre and EK Arts Centre. Opened in 1994 it is a popular venue for drama, visual arts, music, comedy and film as well as art courses.
